BE Rocker Eye Kit, Swatches and A Quick Look...

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a great New Years Eve... I had a quiet but enjoyably one, in which I discovered a complete lack of ability to play any tunes on 'Guitar Hero'. Lets just say my boyfriend and his best mate were very patient with me, but I think it's safe to say that there was relief all round when I decided to forfeit my goes.... Still had a fun night though!

So I mentioned in a previous post that I got the 'Rocker Eye' kit by Bare Escentuals for Christmas, and I gave it a quick go last night. I've taken some pics of the product, what you get and some swatches...

In the kit you get a double ended 'rock and roll' brush, which has a short flat brush at one end which is used to pack on colour, and a thick liner brush at the other end. You also get three jars of eye shadow which contain o.28g of shadow each - at the top of the swatches pic is 'Rock Star', which is a darkish grey with a hint of pink to it, and muticoloured fine sparkles. In the middle is '1980's', a pale shimmery grey, and at the bottom is 'Black Leather', which is a black shadow which contains shimmer sparkles, but is not as shimmery as the other shades. (Sorry about the picture quality - they are as clear as I could get...)

The Kit contains instructions to create a couple of looks but really I think you could create lots of different looks with this kit, either alone or by using with colours, For example I think it would look great used with a vibrant hot pink/electric blue or something like 'chrome' by Mac. You could also create a more moody look using it with a darker colour like MAC Humid, or a dark red or purple shade... I had a play with it, just using the kit alone to see how it worked, and came up with the following...

Sorry about the one on its side - not sure how to rotate it yet.
(Other products used - MAC Studio Tech foundation in NC20, applied with 109 brush - this works great with this foundation - MAC Creme blush in 'Lilicent', Max Factor 2000 calorie mascara, BE Buxom Gloss in 'Dolly', MAC mineral skinfinish pressed powder in 'light medium')
I'm quite pleased with the kit, and I think you could use the products on their own to create subtle looks by using a less dense brush and a thinner liner brush. You could also tone the colours down using a paler eye shadow with them. Alternatively you could really vamp this look up and make it a lot more dramatic by using the shadows wet (either mix with water or a mixing medium...) and using the liner end of the brush more liberally - I went pretty easy here with it. You could really get a lot of looks from it. I think this was one of the easiest smoky eye kits I've ever done. The colours are really easy to blend, and are well pimented too.
I think MAC probably make shades you could use as an alternative to these shadows if you didn't want to shell out for the kit, alternatively Barry M might do some similar Dazzle Dusts... Hope that this review was helpful - all comments welcome!
Hope you like!
