Three More Inches? Don't Mind if I do!

Fnar Fnar - when an offer of "Three More Inches" popped up in my inbox a couple of weeks back, my finger automatically hovered over the "spam" button, thinking I'd been either porn spammed or sent an offer for some dodgy blue pills. However my fear were unfounded... the email was actually about a new haircare range... so I'll have to order those pills somewhere else.

Ladies and Gents, I introduce to you the 3 More Inches range fromMichael Van Clarke, which arrived chez MizzWorthy this morning for review;

The range consists of a pre wash treament, which is applied to hair and can be left on overnight before washing, a shampoo and a conditioner. The products are meant to work together to extend the life of the hair, meaning reduced fall out (which The Mister will be relieved by - he is fed up of consantly discovering my hairs embeded into his jumpers at work and clogging up drains here there and everywhere.
The 3 More Inches products claim to strengthen the bonds in the hair structure with "naturally derived cashmere proteins" making it stronger, longer and generally more like the hair we see on the models in shampoo comercials.

Now regular followers on twitter will have heard me bemoaning my recent haircut - I despise it. It makes me look frumpy and middle aged. And I'm not quite ready for that.
Now, 3 more inches could be the answer to all of my problems - I could get the awful awful cut I have grown out, and then get the cut I actually asked for in the first place, which was this;
But with a longer fringe, that I can push behind my lug holes... Oh, and while we are on the hair subject, should I go dark? I mean like seriously dark, like a black with a reddish or purple tint? Or would I just look like a ghost? Answers on a postcard... or just leave me your opinion in the comments below, which is probably a lot easier...

Anyway, back to the topic at hand - I'll be giving this haircare a good old test - shall we meet back here in say a month and have a looksie at how well its worked, complete with photographic evidence? I think we will!

The 3 More Inches haircare range from Michael Van Clarke is available in Space NK now...

I think you look great in red, and dark can come out harsh on some people, plus if it's a cold color, you'll have to change your whole makeup routine! (had that happen recently, awful!)

Haha like the name! Sounds very promising. :)

You could adapt your cut to Lily's - they just need to make the back shorter. Sadly the only good hairdressers are Toni & Guy, as far as the highstreet is concerned. Expensive but reliable. Most normal salons are useless with anything more adventurous than a trim. The good thing about dark hair is you can wear more makeup! YAY! I just went darker and it's great to load on wild looks but never look too done up as the dark tones it all down. I want you blonde, but maybe a deep purply colour would look very cool. Might make your haircut look more funky too. (I like the cut but can see it's not what you asked for) xx

It depends on if you mind looking pale or not as darker hair can emphasise paler skin. Sometimes I look positively ghostly but I don't mind that. Maybe you could just try a shade or two darker in a non permanent dye and see what you think?

I'm not convinced the cut is *that* far off. I think part of it is due to styling. However, I'm not one to talk. I always ask for choppy hair like Lily's and complain about getting decidedly unchoppy hair like yours. So ignore me <.<
As for the color, I think a dark almost black reddish brown is nice but I'm a lover of warm hues. True black is very harsh and VERY difficult to get rid of. So says me who is finally back to red after 2 years, many colors and a complete chop-off or 3.

It will be interesting to see if it works. Hate it when you don't get the cut your ask for as you are stuck with it for ages,looks fine from your pic though.
Not sure you should go too dark in hair colour,might be too much of a contrast ?

@Musings On Beauty - I'm definitely not going to go black - I'd look too pale gothy, and like you say, I'd have to change my makeup - I'm thinking a dark mahogony...

@Vampiress Doll - Lol, me too!

@Gail - I never learn! I used to love T&G, but I tried to economise...

@Unicorn - Fingers crossed - the mister will be very happy if I manage to stop the shedding!

@Fum - I love my paleness, but it's very easy to lookwashed out sometimes...

@Blue Eyes - fair point, I guess it's just not what I wanted really, and I disike it a LOT lol... ah well. It grows back!

@Nooberella - Lol, have to attract readers somehow, and I can never resist a dirty joke!

@Replica - Thanks!I have come round to the not too dark idea now! x

I'll be interested to see your review on these products.
I would say go dark if you don't mind looking pale. I'm around the same skintone as you and I have dyed black hair and really like it :)

xx

@Tanya - I don't mind looking pale (I have no choice really lol) If I do take the plunge, blusher must always be within reach! I will appear dead without it lol x

Hm, really dark hair like black can look really harsh on our kind of skin (read: paler than vampires). I have naturally very cool-toned dark brunette hairn with cool undertones; it actually looks you're a bit warmer than me in undertone, but I'll tell you the horrifying story anyway.

At the lovely age of 16, I colored my hair a cool-toned soft black. I looked like Lily Munster or Morticia Addams for about seven months. With a very, very, VERY short hairstyle. That had seven months of chemo and radiation treatments. I assure you I was healthier than a horse that year. I'm still kicking myself for that one.

I think the red suites you well. Stay red.

What a name! Oh my, I thought exactly the same when I first saw it. lol I think black with a reddish tint would look awesome on you! And you always can try those "instant colours" (i.e. not permanent) to see if it works for you! :)

I am filth - this is the first post I clicked on after scrolling through my dashboard.

I want to try this stuff! I'm sold on the marketing anyway. My hair is sooo poorly after years of damage and it just doesnt grow any more.

Go dark. It'll make your eyes look amazing.
