Review - Neäl & Wølf Haircare

These products were sent to me for review purposes - I am neither affiliated with Neäl & Wolf, nor paid for these reviews. My reviews are always honest and based on my own experiences and skintype etc - I would always recommend that you read as many reviews as possible on a product prior to making a purchase.

Neäl & Wølf is a new range on the market formulated by Neil Capstick, who has had over 20 years experience in haircare, working for brands such as GHD, Joico, Fudge, Alterna and Eco-Kid.  Take a look at the Neäl & Wølf site HERE.  Sumptuous pics and hair-spiration aplenty!

I've been using the range for a couple of weeks now, and so its time to share my thoughts!

On first impressions, the range looks luxe but practical;

The shampoo and conditioner come in tubes which is great as they make product easy to dispense - no standing in the shower banging the bottle against your hand to get the last dregs out! Both products also smell divine - apparently the scent of these was originally developed for the range, and is exclusive to Neäl & Wølf. I'd describe it as a creamy-coconutty-shea butter-grown up scent. When the hair is dry, you can smell it mildly but not in an overpowering way.

The one downside I can see with the packaging is that there is a lack of instuctions on them - this is fine for shampoo, but with the conditioner, there is no info about how long it needs to be left in - this info can be readily found on the website, and will hopefully be added to the tubes soon?

For info - My hair is fine textured, and I have a lot of it, which means it can often look limp. It has been dyed a lot so has processed damaged ends, and can get oily at the roots in 2-3 days.

Ritual Daily Shampoo...
Both the shampoo and conditioner in the range are formulated for all hair types - this inevitably means that there will be certain hair types which won't work well with them - I was a little dubious at first, but after a couple of uses, I was impressed - my hair seems to feel a bit smoother after every wash actually. I am a double washer, ie I wash rinse and repeat, but to be totally honest this is probably a bit of a waste of product with this one... It just seems to be an unbreakable habit of mine...

The shampoo itself feels very creamy and rich - it forms a rich lather which feels really nice on the hair... it doesn't leave hair feeling rough and desperate for conditioner after rinsing - this is great as it means you can use the conditioner sparingly.

Ingredients;
The shampoo does contain sulfates, as wellas parabens, but I haven't noticed this affecting me as much as other shampoos I have tried which have caused the top of my back to breakout and pores to get blocked - so far I haven't had any problems with this one. Obviously, with this being an "all hair types product, it may not suit very dry or very oily hair, but as I don't have either, I can't really tell you how it performs on "extreme" hairtypes.

The shampoo retails at £10.95 for 250mls.

Rituals Daily Conditioner...
Again this is made for all hair types - it has the same delicious scent as the conditioner. The Neäl & Wølf site advises that this is left on for 30 seconds before rinsing. I simply apply after shampooing, wash the rest of my bod in the shower, and then rinse off at the end.

This is a nice conditioner - not too heavy, so I feel happy to apply it from roots to ends without fear of oily roots, and it leaves my hair feeling smooth and soft. I have shoulder length hair and find a blob about the size of half a walnut to be just about right.It rinses really easily too.

Ingredients;
As you can see it contains shea butter - see I was right about the scent! It also contains parabens - and a lot of people are avoiding this, so this is relevant if you fall into this camp. Again, different hair-types would need to adjust how much of the product used etc. The shampoo and conditioner work well together, but I'd actually say the shampoo is rich and conditioning enough for oilier hairtypes to only need to condition every 2-3 washes.

The conditioner retails at £11.95 for 200mls.

I was also sent a heat protector spray and a shine spray...

Guard Heat Protection Spray...
This comes in a non aerosol pump bottle - again, it suffers from a lack of directions, however the website advises that this can be used on wet or dry hair. I have used it as both - I blow dry my hair regularly, and I also use straighteners on a regular basis. I have been using this every time I blow dry on damp hair, and I have also used it before straightening - ie I've used two applications at one time to protect hair from two different types of heat - does that make sense?! The product is easily dispersed through the hair, and protects well against heat - my har doesnt feel weighed down or sticky even when I use it twice on the hair - once before blowdrying and then again before straightening.
This retails at £10.95 for 150mls.

Glow Super Shine Spray...
Again a lack of directions on the bottle, but as with most shine sprays this is spritzed over dry hair. The pump creates a nice fine spray which distributes the product evenly over a reasonable sized area.  I often avoid shine sprays and serums as they weigh my fine hair down and make it get greasy faster. I haven't found this is the case with this product. It does give a nice shine to the hair - not exactly mirror like, but my hair is heavily processed and has been home dyed a lot over the last few years. I've noticed my hair seems less prone to frizz and flyaway bits induced by humid weather when I use this - but that may be a result of the whole range being used together.
This retails at £11.95 for 100mls.

Overall I'm impressed with this range - used together I've noticed my hair feels smoother, sleeker and less frizzy. The range is not cheap, but not as pricey as other ranges on the market such as Kerastase. For me this worked well - I'd definitely consider repurchasing the products but would need to see how long it takes me to get through each bottle/pump to see how much "bang for your buck" each product yields. Also, I do love the scent...

The products look really nice and I totally agree with them being in a squeezy tube, it's so much easier. I've got a bottle of Herbal Essences that keeps getting filled with air when I'm trying to get some conditioner out.

Also, I read somewhere that 30 secs is how long you should have your conditioner on for because it doesn't penetrate the shaft or anything, not sure how much truth there is in that.

Sounds good, though that is truly bizarre that there's no directions on the packaging!

Hi, it's Neal & Wolf here. Thanks for the amazing review, and what great comments!! The reason we didn't initially put instructions on the packaging is because it's a professional brand, and the stylists that sell them will always guide you as you buy. However, a few people have mentioned they would like instructions. And being a nice brand... have decided to listen and act on the feedback. So the next batch will carry instructions.
