Pastel polishes appear to be making a current bid for world domination, with pretty much every collection ranging from Illamasqua to Number17 having a strong sugar sweet influence... The new Orly "Sweet" collection is no exception...
Left to Right - Cotton Candy, Lollipop, Lemonade, Gumdrop, Pixie Stix, Snowcone
Having never tried any polishes from the Orly range before, I was recently sent three of the shades to review... Cotton Candy, a bright peachy pink, Lollipop, a pastel lilac and Lemonade, a bright pastel yellow - all three shades have a strong white base to them, which gives the colour a strong "pop".
I really like the packaging of this range - The bottles are attractive and curvy looking, and a decent 18ml size. I also love the rubberized finish on the handle, which makes it easier for someone who isn't fab with nail varnish, such as moi to daub them onto my nails...
Application wise, I did find the polishes creamy, but a little streaky - however this did vary from shade to shade - Lollipop definitely fared the best with decent coverage in two coats, Cotton Candy and Lemonade both required three coats, and Lemonade was definitely the streakiest. The colours are really really pretty though - I was even surprised by how wearable the yellow shade Lemonade was.
Above - Cotton Candy; The picture does look slightly washed out, and in real life is much brighter - this is a lovely bright peach pink shade
Above - Lollipop - very pretty pastel lilac shade. My favorite of the three without a doubt!
Above - Lemonade. A pretty colour, but you can see in the pictures this is a little patchy on application.
Overall, I love the colours in this collection - I am a fan of the current pastel trend, although some colours are definitely difficult to wear (especially once you get past thirty *sniff*). The formula was a little streaky and I was slightly disappointed with them in that respect - application time is longer as three coats are needed which have to dry between each coat. The finished look is lovely, I got three days from this without chipping/tip wear without a top coat, and I liked the creamy finish to the look. My pick from the collection is definitely the shade Lollipop!
The Sweet Collection, together with other Orly Polishes is available at www.cupidandgrace.com and retails at £8.75 per bottle.

Those look so pretty....love Cotton Candy...being a peachy kinda person!
I've got Snowcone and it's an absolutely gorgeous blue!
I'm not sure if I'll bother with the other ones as they are similar to China Glaze Up & Away collection which I already have.
Very nice colors. I've had my eye on the yellow the minute I saw it in a magazine add. I love pastels, they always cheer me up. And I don't care that I'm over 30!!! I'm wearing them! ;))
I love cotton candy!
Thanks for the comments everyone! These are certainly very pretty colours!
Ooooh Cotton Candy looks delectable :) I also like the look of Gumdrop, can't go wrong with a nice mint shade
