Clynol Hair Products....

I was very kindly sent these hair products by Lisa from Immediate PR approx a month ago - which has given me plenty of time to have a good test!

I recieved two products from the "Look At Me" range - Delicious Boosting Hairspray, and Smoothing Styling Cream. I was also sent "Play With Me" Powder Punch (I cheekily requested this after reading so many reviews and wanting to have a little see what all the fuss is about! - Thanks Lisa for letting me try it!)

First up the "Look At Me" range - both the hairspray and styling cream are packaged really nicely in my opinion - hot pink is usually a winner in my book, and it's also easy to find when I'm stumbling about in the dark trying to get myself presentable for an early shift...
But of course there is no point to nice packaging if the products themselves are not up to scratch!

This range is available at Clynol salons and online at (amongst other places I'm sure) http://www.hairsupermarket.com/ Being a salon range, means you pay higher prices, but I have to say, as salon stuff goes, I have paid a lot more for products in ranges such as Redken (Fab but not exactly credit crunch friendly!)...

Clynol Delicious Boosting Hairspray

This retails for £7.45 for a 300ml can, which is a decent amount of product. (Its also available in a 500ml for £8.95). The product is designed to give high levels of hold and medium levels of shine...

Now when I recieved this, I wasn't actually expecting too much - hairspray is hairspray right? Well, of course, you can get drugstore hairsprays of this size for half the price or less, but what I personally LOVED about this is the scent - it has a lovely fresh and floral/fruity scent which made it a pleasure to use - not a hint of old ladies lacquer here!

I'd say the product actually gives buildable hold - it won't make your hair rock hard or stiff like some super hold sprays do, but you can use a light spray to give natural hold and keep say a ponytail tame for the day, or you can build it up even more to get a higher level of hold. On my hair, this did actually live up to its claims to boost shine too.

This brushes out easily, and it didn't dry out my hair or scalp like some other products I've tried recently (Ok Ok I'll reveal - the new Garnier spray with the bamboo extract in it gave me dry patches on my scalp - so much so that my BF offered to lend me his anti dandruff stuff....).

Overall I'd give this product a thumbs up, with the only downside possibly being the price, especially if you go through cans and cans of hairspray on a regular basis, oh and some people might not like the scent, but I personally really liked it...

Clynol Centre Stage Smoothing Styling Cream

This one retails for £6.50 for 100mls. Designed for use on towel dried hair, and promises to transform "curly, wavy or straight hair into hair like silk". Designed to give medium hold and shine to the hair. Can also be used on dry hair to boost shine, although I did not test this claim...

Again, I was a bit dubious about this product - I have baby fine hair but loads of it, and products like creams and serums usually just weigh it down and make it look flat/lank/greasy or any combination of the above! However this product just made it easier to style my hair, and kept it looking nice for longer!

The cream itself is white and quite light in texture - again it smells lovely - coconutty/tropical. Its easy to work through the hair and makes the hair feel more smooth and less prone to frizzing afterwards. I didn't feel that this weighed my hair down.

Again, a thumbs up, and I actually think the price of this is in line with a lot of similar drugstore products.

Clynol Powder Punch Texture Powder

This one retails for £9.95 for a 10g tin - this is the size shown in the picture above (and the top picture), so it's actually quite a small amount of product really...
This is meant to add matte texture and lasting body to the hair.
Sadly (and I really mean that - I was really looking forward to trying this!), this product really didn't work for me! It did transform to a paste like texture as promised, and did mattify the hair, but it failed to give me any lasting body. In addition to this, it made my hair feel SO sticky and was hard to brush out later on... I felt like I'd spilled something sugary on my hair!
I was really disappointed that this didn't work for me - wish I'd been one of the lucky ones who got along with it, but its a thumbs down for this one from me!
Anyone else tried any of the products from these ranges? Also, can anyone tell me where I went wrong with the Powder Punch?!
MizzWorthy x
