Budget Skin-Care For Sensitive Types - Purity Organic Skincare and Muslin Cloths.

Hot on the heels of my recent foray into Vichy skincare I was asked to test out a range which recently launched into Superdrug - Purity Organic Skincare.

This range is not only budget priced (£4.99-£8.99) but also rich in Organic ingredients - 82% of the ingredients come from organic sources. The range is also free from parabens, GM or petroleum based products, Silicones, SLS, and synthetic fragrances, making it worth checking out for sensitive skin types and those who like to use naturally sourced skincare.

Whenever I test out a skincare range, I like to use it for around a month before publishing a review and making any recommendations, I've been testing this out for a couple of weeks now and thought I'd share my views so far on the range... as well as making a little introduction!

The range contains two cleansers, a cream cleanser and a foaming cleansing gel - given the low price of this range I was surprised by how effectively the cream cleanser removed makeup - the only thing left after using this was a bit of mascara round the eyes, but this is the norm with most cleansers in my case. It doesn't feel to heavy either, which is a problem I have had in the past with other cream cleansers. The foaming gel also performed well, and refreshed my skin without making it feel too tight. I like the packaging of these too, which is simple basic and clean looking. £4.99 each for 150mls.

I've been trying the cleanser in combination with these muslin cleansing cloths which are available here for the bargain price of £3.99 for a pack of three - certainly beats Liz Earl et al! I've never used muslin cloths before, but I've been soaking these with as hot as I can bear" water, wringing out and placing over the face before wiping - this seems to open the pores and gently remove surface nasties, which is always a good thing!

The range also contains a scrub, which contains ground coconut shell, aloe vera, coconut and sweet almond oil. This is a creamy based scrub so would work well on drier and more delicate skins - I personally didn't think this was abrasive enough for my skin, but we'll come back to this later!

Impressively the range contains three moisturisers - anti-aging moisturiser (£7.99 for 50mls), Facial Moisturiser (£7.99 for 50 mls), Regenerating Overnight Moisturiser (£7.99 for 50mls), as well as an Anti-aging serum and mask (£8.99 for 50mls)

Above - anti-aging moisturiser and anti-aging serum and mask.

The definite stand out product from this range for me is the Anti-Aging Serum and Mask, which comes in a twist top pot, and can (you'll never see this coming!) be used as either a serum or a mask. I've used it as both and as a serum it works fine, but its great as a face mask when your skin feels a bit dehydrated. It dries like a gel on the skin and so feels very refreshing, but also somehow infuses the skin with moisture - really loved it!

Unfortunately, for my skin, I have found the rest of the moisturisers too rich for my dry-combo skin. They have a very thick rich consistency, somewhere in the same region as nivea cream in pots, and so I decided to recruit a willing volunteer in the form of MizzWorthy junior, my little sister... who has ultra dry and ultra sensitive skin, bless her...

In case you can't guess Little MizzW is the faketan fan on the left... here we are after a few little tipples before a girls night out a couple of years ago - This is one of my fave pics of us! She will feedback in her own inimitable way how these products performed for her, so never let it be said that MizzWorthy and her clan don't test products fully!

@Helen - wierdly enough, I remember seeing Jade Goody do something similar on BB with a flannel - works really well with the Muslins though - and those ones are great value!

@Tali - lol - remember how I said my camera washes colours out? Def check the range out if you have dry skin, but you might find it too rich if you have any oiliness or are blemish prone!
