Sleek MakeUP Luminous Pressed Powder SPF15.

Sleek are releasing products at a rate of knots at the moment - Recent additions include the two new palettes, a new range of blushers and pigments and a new range of nail polishes.

The latest addition to the range is their new pressed powder which I was recently sent to test out and review.

Sleek say;
"The pressed powder offers a light covering with a hint of golden shimmer to make skin look vivacious and radiant whilst minimising shine and absorbing excess oils in the skin. Fusing together skin conditioning jojoba, with skin protecting SPF 15, the smooth light velvety formula of the lumionous pressed powder conditions and protects whilst providing a flawless finish"

This is available in 4 shades, I was sent the lightest (shade LPP001).

Packaging wise Sleek continue to produce decent looking products, which are low in cost (these retail at £5.99 for 10.5g of product). Here they have gone for a simple black case - a mini version of the palettes if you will, although square rather than rectangular... It comes with a little square puff, which is not the greatest applicator ever (Sleek actually recommend using a brush for this product), but it's useful for touch-ups.

In terms of texture, the powder is not as finely milled as many higher end brands, but for a drugstore line, this has a reasonable feel to it, and most importantly does not cake up when dusted over liquid foundations. (I'd say this is comparable in texture to ELF's complexion perfection powder)

In the pan the powder looks like this...

As you can see, this powder has a slight shimmer running through it. The shimmer is fine and so does not look "glittery" on the skin.

It swatches like this...

I had to swatch the powder fairly heavily to get the powder to show on my hand - but this is no bad thing - the powder matches my skin tone well. This is impressive in itself, as Sleek as a brand prides itself on being suitable for all skintones. Many brands claim this, but a lot of drugstore brands do not cater for my (extremely pale) skintone.

I have been testing this for a few days, setting my liquid foundation with it by sweeping it over with my ELF complexion brush. It does a reasonable job - most importantly it does not oxidise on the skin (the worst thing any powder product can ever do - who wants to leave the house looking fine, only to arrive at work looking orange? Not me!).

This powder leaves the skin looking naturally luminous - ie, no shine, but not over matte or cakey as a lot of pressed powders can do. It is not a powder illuminator in the style of NARS albatross, or the MAC MSF's, which impart far more shimmer and sheen onto the skin. The finish this leaves is a lot more subtle, and is suitable for application over the whole face rather than just the cheekbones.  The compact seems pretty sturdy too - great for chucking in your handbag or for travel.

Ingredients;

Talc, Aluminium  Starch Octenylsuccinate, Nylon-12, Dimethicone, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Magnesium Stearate, Jojoba Esters, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Octocrylene.

Hope this helps,

Ooooo, I need this powder and I don't even like powders! Now, if only they started making light-coverage foundation in my uber pale skintone. It's really irritating when the lightest and palest shade doesn't come close to your natural skintone. Damn peaches-and-cream complexion. Irritation is foundation's middle name with me; hence, the nearly obsessive use of tinted moisturizers.
