Clynol Repair Haircare

I was recently asked if I would like to test some of the products from Clynol's new range. My hair was feeling a bit straw-like , generally in bad condition and not very happy. General notes on my hair - it is baby fine, but I have a lot of it...

When I saw the range of new shampoos included a "Repair", protein enriched range, I decided to give them a whirl, and see if they helped my poor tresses.

The range claims to be "for strengthening the hair structure from within and providing a lustrous shine".

The packaging is fine - funtional and practical - I especially like the pump on the conditioner bottle, which makes it easy to dispense the right amount of product (the pump can also be closed eg for travel).

So, first of all, lets talk about the shampoo...

Ingredients...

As you can see, Sodium Laureth Sulphate is the second ingredient along in the ingredients list, and a lot of people are avoiding this ingredient at the moment - you can read why here.

(Other webpages are available about Sodium Laureth Sulphate, which you can find through any search engine, however this seemed to be the least biased and did not appear to be affiliated with any SLES free brands of shampoo...). Im not aware of any issues with any of the other ingredients, however, if you are than please let us know in the comments section below!

The shampoo itself is a white liquid, and seems a little runnier than a lot of other shampoos I have used - this has a positive effect in that it it easier to work through the hair, however it also means that the shampoo seems to not "foam up" as well as other shampoos on the first wash - I am one of those people who usually doesn't feel like my hair is clean unless I wash it twice... anyone else do this?

The shampoo and conditioner both have a nice "salon" scent - slightly reminiscent of almonds and vaguely chemical, but neither are overpowering and the smell rinses off with the product...

I wash my hair every two to three days at the moment, depending on gym visits etc, and a this shampoo does an effective job of making my hair feel clean, without feeling all tangled up...Although.... *thinks*... there was one "incident" where I stretched the four day rule beyond its usual peramiters (thanks Batiste!), and I needed to wash three times with this in order to feel really clean....

The shampoo retails at £8.45 for 300mls. I've been using this for approx three weeks, 2-3 times per week, and I have just over half the bottle left.

Ok, so now lets consider this Conditioner...

Ingredients...

Again, I was a little concerned by the presence of alcohol as the second ingredient here - so I had another look online and found out here that the word alcohol seems a little misleading here - this is actually an emollient ingredient. It also contains Parabens which are somewhat more controversial however - you can read about them here.
(Please note, that I include information re these chemicals because I know a lot of people avoid certain ingredients. I personally don't, but as a review is meant to provide you with an objective breakdown of the pro's and con's of a product so that you can make a balanced choice about whether you think a product might be right for you...)

The conditioner itself is a again white and creamy in consistency. I have shoulder length hair and use 4-5 pumps of this, which gives me good results. I like the fact that this is one of those conditioners you are advised to leave in for a couple of minutes before rinsing. I wash my hair, apply the conditioner, and then let it do its thing while I wash my bod, before rinsing it out.

The conditioner retails at £9.45 for 250mls. Again I have over half the bottle left after 2-3 weeks use.

Results...

Overall I have noticed a definite improvement in the condition of my hair - it is shinier, less brittle, and feels a lot smoother. Previously I would have had to use a serum or some kind of styling product to get these results. Therefore I would say that for me, this did fulfil its claims

One issue I have noticed is that (grossness alert... you are now warned...) the top of my back (ie where the wet hair/ conditioner coated hair sits while I shower) seems to have more blemishes and bumps than it used to - this may or may not be due to the shampoo, as I sometimes find that this happens during the colder months.

I'd say this range is worth considering if you have damaged hair in need of a little TLC... and it seems reasonably priced to me for a salon range too.

The products mentioned are available on http//:www.hairsupermarket.com

Hope this helped
