Eyeko Autumn Winter Nail Polish Collection

Eyeko have released a new range of nail varnishes for Autumn Winter - five are available on the Eyeko website, and one (Vintage Polish) is an ASOS exclusive. As always with Eyeko, they are well priced products, and cost £3.00 each (8.5ml bottle - for reference, the smaller bottles of Rimmel polish are 8mls) on both ASOS and the eyeko website.

They are free from toluene, formaldehyde, DBP and camphor.

Nude Polish - A peachy beige, cream finish varnish. Very work appropriate, and great for the times you don't don't want a dramatic look...The photo shows two coats, which gives good coverage with this shade.

Indigo Polish - A shimmering midnight blue shade. This is dark but still really pretty. Two (not thin) coats needed to get the full effect on my nails. It has a glossy finish. The shimmer particles are very small in this polish, so this is definite "shimmer" rather than a "glitter" polish.

Cosmic Polish - A black base with multicoloured glitter/shimmer particles. This is lovely, but the black base can be a little sheer for a one coat application - a second coat deepens the colour and also seems to make the multicoloured shimmer look more vibrant. Again, this has a glossy finish.

Purple -  A very bright neon/electric shade with a semi-matte finish. This appeals to me as a winter shade with a twist. If you really want to get the effect of the semi-matte finish on this one, you do need to forego the top coat, which can mean you get shorter wear from this particular one...

Lilac - A pastel, sugared almond type shade. This one has the same sort of "purple smarties" (UK sweets) look as OPI's Done Out in Deco, but is a little brighter than OPI's more muted pastel. This is a cream finish, and two to three coats were needed of this one to get an opaque coverage. Very wearable, but seems possibly more of a spring type shade to me?

Vintage Polish - this pastel green shade is the ASOS exclusive shade, and follows the mint nails trend - slightly more "jade" than the "green tippex" feeling I got from Barry M's recent green shade. Again this is a cream finish. This looks like it could have done with another coat in the picture, so 2-3 coats needed for this one, and again this one feels more "spring" than "autumn/winter" to me.

I road tested these shades on top of a base of OPI's nail envy without any topcoat. the polishes lasted 2 days without chipping or noticeable tip wear,  following a 2 coat application, which I was impressed with for this price. A nice range of colours too - there seems to be something her to appeal to everyone. My personal faves are the electric purple and the two shimmer polishes, which I think they look a lot more expensive than they actually are

Drying-time wise, I didn't notice any major differences between the drying times of these polishes and any other polishes I have used. I also like the different design of these bottles - the previous nail varnishes from eyeko had short stubby metal screw caps, which looked very nice in the bottle, however I always thought they looked like they would be difficult to use and I was likely to drop them, splodging nail varnish everywhere... These bottles have much better designed caps, which makes them easier to apply.

These polishes are a quite thin consistency, meaning that you need to be  a little more careful when loading the brush, as it can look like you have the perfect amount of polish on the brush, and then you can suddenly get a big rundown of polish from the pole attaching the brush to the handle. It also means you may find you want to apply more coats if you don't get the right amount.

Overall a good range of colours, at a great pricepoint.

Hope this helps

I like the look of Indigo and Cosmic. I've got the red from their older set and you're right, it's a complete fiddle to use!

I just got the five I could get in the mail yesterday and I'm surprisingly liking the nude and lilac, which are not my usual colours. Cosmic and Indigo are the really interesting ones, though.
Right now my nails are painted in a diagonal half-and-half in Lilac and Indigo. Looks quite lovely.
I really want Vintage, maybe I can get it in a swap...

oh I wanted to review these but you've done it, now I can only echo! I love Cosmic, I've never worn black nails before but somehow this has enough sparkle to not be goth. +Everyone thinks I'm wearing a designer polish too, bonus!!I like these a lot, must say. Xx

I love that Eyeko Vintage polish! It reminds me of the Essie Mint Candy Apple. Where can I find it?
