NARS Haul - Holiday Collection 2009

I was kindly forwarded an email the other day by London Makeup Girl

This entitled me to a fab discount of 20% off at Space NK, a discount which was begging to be taken advantage of... I picked up a some skincare from Elemental Herbology, which I will be reviewing when I've tested it further, as well as a Rococco nail varnish and my first ever Lipstick Queen purchase - posts coming up about all these!

First things first though, I hit the NARS counter, which for once, had most of the stuff I wanted in stock. I meandered over to check out a few products from the Holiday 2009 collection. I have to say I found this collection so so appealing. The cream shadow in the shade Mousson is absolutely beautiful, a silvery shimmery shade with a green undertone - absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, this was the one thing I wanted that was out of stock... There is also a new Multiple stick in Luxor (an iridescent pink shade), soft touch shadow pencils and new Soft Shadow Pencils... all stunning

So, what did I pick up, I hear you ask?

A relatively restrained haul...

Firstly I picked up the powder shadow duo in Eurydice, this is described on the NARS website as "Electric aubergine and Graphite". I'd definitely agree with the Electric Aubergine description - the purple shade is a rich blue toned shade, with a definite blue shimmer running through.... I know that description sounds slightly "bruise-like", but it's not!
The Graphite side of the palette is a grey-green shade with a silver undertone running through it.
Both shades are beautiful, but as so often with NARS shadow duos, it feels like this duo were not necessarily made to go together, but rather to be considered valuable additions to your "eyeshadow wardrobe".

I also picked up one of the Soft Shadow Pencils in the shade Aigle Noir;

This is reminiscent of MAC's shadesticks, in pencil form, but so so much softer. This shade is a black infused with a gold shimmer, and seemed different to anything I owned. The shimmer is a true shimmer rather than huge glittery chunks, which is beautiful when swatched. There are two other shades in the collection - Goddess (glittering pink champagne) and Skorpios (iridescent copper). I loved the look of both these shades, but felt like I already had similar products already in my collection, so I passed on these... I am hoping this will prove to be a great liner and base for other shadows... In actual fact, this has so much shimmer it almost takes on a khaki hue.

The swatches above show the undertones in the products really well - the blue tone in the purple, the sage/silver in the graphite and the gold in the shadow pencil.

Just goes to show - one bad experience with a range (yes Firming foundation, I'm talking about YOU!), doesn't mean the rest is bad...!

@Holly- they are so soft too! So creamy too - much less draggy on the eys than a shadestick!

I bought Aigle Noir yesterday after swatching it on my hand and falling in love with it INSTANTLY. I can't get over how smoothly it applies, not like MAC's shadesticks. The colour reminds me of Seriously Hip polish from the Style Black collection which I am wearing atm and loving. Wish I'd got a back-up now!

Do you know if this pencil is LE? xx
