Self Tanning for Beginners 2 - St Moriz

I guess its time for me to add in my two pennys worth on this "Must Have" This is said to be comparable to St Tropez but for £2.99, as opposed to around £20, and you get nearly twice the amount of product.... Now I have never ever used St Tropez (yep - you read that right) In fact, up until this "summer" I hadn't used a fake tan since I was about 16, and was dedicated to the pale... The things we do for beauty hey!

I applied the tan using the Hele Method, ie with a tanning mit. I have seen a lot of people on youtube and blogger suggesting you don't need gloves or a mit with this, and I really disagree - this stuff stains and it stains FAST! Unless you really want to look like an orange palmed chain smoker, I would definitely recommend a mit - I picked up a Boots Soltan cheapie, for about 70p and that worked fine.

The tan itself is a tinted mousse - its kinda has a chocolate mousse colour - this is a plus to a tanning newbie like me, as its easy to blend, and you can see where you have applied it - always a bonus! Mr MizzWorthy happened to be passing by the bathroom while I was applying. He looked me up and down and said "Does exactly what it says on the tin...." (which happens to be the tagline from a wood vernish ad in the UK - very droll...) But don't let his "comedy skills" put you off - although it goes on dark, you will not end up looking like David Dickinsons love child.

Scent wise, this reminded me of mild soap at first, very pleasant and inoffensive. Although it did develop and get that typical fake-tan odour overnight, it definitely isn't the worst I've ever tried - that honour goes to sublime bronze which smelled like curry - nice.

So, I got up in the morning and exfoliated and moisturised, then applied the tan after work, so I wouldn't get any icky patches. This seemed to work well, and gave a smooth colour result. No patchy knees, no mottled ankles, again, great!

When you wake up the next morning, you may feel a little alarmed at how dark the tan has gone - fear not - showering will get rid of the excess colour, and leave you nicely bronzed.

I haven't used this one on my face (I have a fear of doing this with ANY fake tan!), but I know a lot of people have without any problems though...
The tan lasted a good three days before I noticed any fading. It did fade slightly patchy, but again, definitely not the worst I've tried for that.

Verdict - well worth hunting down, a cheap and cheerful tanner that outperforms many of its more expensive rivals!

I can't bear reading all these rave reviews - it's impossible to find round where I live :-(

I got mine from Amazon, and tried it a couple of months ago. I must say I was disappointed because most of it washed off when I showered the next day :-( As if it was more of a tinted cream for non-permanent tan.
Maybe I should try it again.

Since then I have been using Xen Tan and loving it, but it's much more expensive.

ROTFLMAO - the way you highlighted the text of "David Dickinson's Love Child" had me hovering my mouse over it as I thought it was a hot link to click on, to actually reveal a picture of DD's LC!

haha.

@Ondine - oh noooo - I know a few people have got it on ebay?

@Mariella - I agree - a lot of the colour does wash off, but as I am pale it seems to give me a deep tan - maybe a couple of applications would give a better result for you? I'm planning on trying Xen tan soon too!

@CBethGlitter - good luck - I appreciate the fear lol

@Helen - lol - I have decided highlighting the salient points of a review are the way to go... clearly the comparison between the marvellous Dave and the fake tan fans I see roaming the streets needed to be brought to the attention of the public lol!

@DaisyBee - Make sure the mit you buy is waterproof on the inside or you will need a glove as well... xxx
