MEMEME Foundations

I was recently sent two foundation - Mineral Radiance, and Anti-Fatigue -  from the MEMEME range, available at superdrug for review purposes.

The range is available at Superdrug, and is known for being purse-friendly and producing dupes for products from Benefit and even Bobbi Brown for a  fraction of the cost. These both come in at under £7 for 30mls.

Both bottles are similar in terms of design and packaging - presumably this is one way the company keep their prices so low. The design is fine - nothing amazing, but they do both come with a pump, which which gets a thumbs up from me. Hygienic and easy to use - the pump doesn't "spurt" product everywhere, and is reasonably easy to control.

Now, being a pale creature, I often find the biggest issue with drugstore foundations is the colour range. I expressed this concern to the PR lady, and she did her best to send me suitably pale shades...

On the right we have radiant minerals foundation in shade 4 - Beige.
On the left, we have anti fatigue foundation in shade 1 - Ivory.

As you can see, the shades in the anti-fatigue range run a lot darker than the radiant mineral range - considering I was sent the lightest shade in the anti fatigue, and shade 4 in the radiant minerals, the difference is huge. It therefore obviously follows that paler ladies will be better catered for by the mineral radiance version, whilst darker shades will prefer the anti-fatigue range...

Consistency wise, the radiant minerals is a lot more runny and liquid than the anti-fatique, which has a thicker creamier consistency.

There is no information on the bottles as to their ingredients, but there is a bit of info on what to expect;

Radiant Minerals - "Enriched with mineral pigments, so it delivers a flawless result and is      gentle in the skin. Enhances the skin's natural luminosity. Allows skin to breathe.

Anti Fatigue Foundation - "Contains a naturally energising complex scientifically proven to replenish the energy stores of stressed skin. Improves cell turn-over, to help skin look healthy and radiant. Helps conceal dark circles and imperfection"

So, lets see what they look like on then?

This is my nekkid skin - bare, nowt on it etc

Here is the mineral radiance foundation on skin and blended...
It results in a sheer finish, and is naturally luminous. One thing I like, is that you can still see the skin through it, ie, it doesn't mask freckles etc.

It is very low coverage though - if you have blemishes, this will not cover them, but I like the overall effect of it - it seems to even out the skintone, in a similar way to a decent tinted moisturiser. Feels very light on, and the colour is also a really good match for me.

Finally, we have the anti-fatigue foundation - as you can see, this gives much higher coverage. It still looks quite natural though. Its not too difficult to blend either, given that the consistency is so much thicker.

The biggest problem I had with it, was the colour - for some reason the natural light went really cool and blue between taking the pictures above, and this picture, but in real life, it looked a bit, well, orange on me. Given this is the lightest shade, its not the best look for me.

It goes give a light-medium coverage though, and I thought it did a reasonable job of covering minor imperfections - difficult to say whether this lives up to the claims regarding increased skin turn over etc on the back of the bottle though - I think I'd have to have some kind of scientific measuring device available to me to be able to verify those claims... Sadly, I don't.

Neither foundation felt too heavy on the skin - the mineral version in particular feels light and fresh on the skin, and was really comfortable on the drier areas of my skin around the cheeks. Neither foundation aggrivated any blemishes, or created new ones.

Would I buy again? Of the two, I'd be most likely to pick up the mineral radiance, for the simple reason that the colour was much betterfor me - I also like the way this looks for day to day "no makeup makeup" looks for work etc, when the thought of rocking no makeup scares me, but I don't want to look "done up" in any way. The anti-fatigue version would probably be good for people who like a medium coverage, and can find a suitable shade for them...

Hope this helps...
