Laura Mercier Moisturising Foundation...

I really do hate to admit it after the pushy, erm critical service I recieved at the Laura Mercier counter the other night at the selfridges event, but I tried this for the first time today at work, and I have to begrudgingly admit this stayed on well and looked good all shift... In short first impression is that this is good.

I wore it over my Illamasqua Matt Primer, and set with a light sweep of my ELF complexion perfection and it was good - I will keep looking for faults though lol...Obviously this formula is moisturising s would not work too well on oily skins...

One thing I will say is that the sponges that were forced on me I also picked up were a bit of a pain - applying foundation using a sponge might look great, but i's time consuming and I can get just as good a result using either my fingers or a brush using a lot less product - and at £31 a bottle this is a good thing...

Anyone else used this?

Yeah i definately try and stay away from using sponges, you can see them eat up all your expensive makeup!!!

Its awful when sales people put you off products because of their attitudes huh!

I've had it happen to me so many times!

I use LM silk cream foundation and it's bloody good. Those sponges they sell you are not that great. Non-latex sponges used wet give the best finish ever. Better than a brush.

@Madame B Fatale - I agree, although maybe I should try the sponges wet? Hmm...

@UnicornSmile - Is the silk creme a heavier coverage foundation? Where can I get the non-latex sponges? xx

Nooo sponges.. im too stingey!! They eat my make-up!

Im all anti brushes for foundations and pro fingers. I like to be precise and i like to controll my foundtion. With brushes.. i always put too much on and it always looks like it hasnt sunk in properly!!

I wish i didnt have oily skin or id try that one you just reviewed!!! xx

I'm sad to say I've walked away from a couple of counters in my time due to pushy service. I know it's their job and I know they have targets to make but I hate feeling like I am just a target or commission for some one. Less "service" and more "target", not good.

I'm a fan of the fingers too, brush now and then but avoid the sponges.

@ Mizzworthy - the Silk Cream foundation is the heaviest coverage they do. It's very pigmented and MUST be applied with a damp sponge or it looks majorly heavy. Applied correctly it is one of the best foundations I've tried.

You can get non-latex sponges from Boots. IMO they don't waste product, they distribute it evenly and give the most airbrushed finish. You just have to wet the sponge, squeeze excess water, work the product into the sponge and then press onto the skin. Hope this helps, if you try them, let me know what you think xx

Ahahah, forced on you. I had a really bad experience at the Laura Mercier counter near me too. I think they must train you to be a bit crabby and snooty when you work there.

I prefer fingers to sponges for foundation too - I find the warmth from my fingers helps to meld it into my skin.

Laura Mercier's bases are lovely lovely.

@Angela - thanks so much for following the blog - Laura Mercier do an oil free foundation too, so it might be worth doing a google search for reviews on that - there might even be something on youtube? x
