Dear Santa...

Oooh - this time of year is a yet another excuse to indulge in window shopping for myself, as I'm often asked what I'd like St Nick to drop down the chimney for me... This Saturday I happened to be near a perfume counter and identified a few scents I am now obsessing over...

StellaNude from Stella McCartney;

Heart Notes - White Peony, Pink Pepper
Top Notes - Moroccan Rose, Grapefruit
Base Notes - Precious vanilla and Grey Amber
(OK - Am I an idiot or is Amber a stone? How can a stone have a scent?)

A floral scent, which comes in a lovely bottle, and also one of the few I've tested where the top notes lasted well on me - I love fresh citrussy scents, but they are volatile and therefore usually very short lived. This one managed to smell fresh and floral, yet very feminine on me at the same time - I love it!

YSL Parisienne

This one is definitely not my normal type as it is a "woody" scent, but nonetheless I love it - it reminds me of parma violets which for some reason makes me feel all misty eyed about my childhood...

Heart Notes - Violet (that explains the parma violet thing!)
Top Notes - Cranberry
Base Notes - Musk (again - I am not usually a musk fan, but for some reason this perfume really appeals!)

Marc Jacobs - LolaOK, I admit it - this has huge "dressing table appeal" - look at the pretty bottle!

It also smells lovely!

Heart Notes - Rose, Fuchsia, Peony, Geranium
Top Notes - Pink peppercorn, Pear, Ruby Red Grapefruit.
Base Notes - Vanilla, Warm Tonka Bean (!) and Creamy Musk

What fragrances are you lemming right now? I need to sniff! Christmas is the one time I get a "proper" perfume (ie, not one from the body shop etc)

No you're not an idiot, amber is a stone (resin from trees that have fossilized), but in perfumery it is a loose term used to describe perfumes that are rich, earthy and warm in scent. Perfume companies all produce synthetic oils that that they believe represent the warmth of the fossil itself (a bit bizarre I know). Sometimes they use oils extracted from resins of benzoin and labdanum and then pass it off as being 'Amber'.

I like the new YSL one and the Stella Nude. I tested them at the weekend and they're lovely. I also tried the new Guerlain one and it was horrible - have you tried that one?

I really want Calvin Kleins Secret Obsession, I know it's not a new one but I tried it on a while ago and it was lovely. I've got over 60perfumes in my collection (another obsession of mine - oh the shame!) so I often have to talk myself out of buying another one as I have enough perfume to keep me going for years!

There's always room for another one though, right? :) x

Oh that YSL looks like something I will have to get a sniff of. I got Calvin Klein Euphoria for Christmas last year and I still love it. When I wear it someone always asks what it is.

Awww I do love a good wish list! I'm also lusting after the YSL one, it smells beautiful. I also want another bottle of my all time favourite Agent Provocateur perfume. I asked for it last year and the MIL bought me the wrong one... the emotionelle one I think... which is no where near as nice! Obviously coudn't tell her that though!

@Tackyblueeyeshadow -Wow, 60 perfumaes - thats impressive! I havent tested the guerlain or ne CK ones - I'll have a look out for those, and yes, I agree, as with eyeshadows/lipglosses/foundations and blushers, there is always room for one more!

Hey
I want to try the one from Liz Earle, is new and her first, very curious with that one.
But the one that, for me, is the most amazing out there is Flower Bomb, Victor and Rolf. Is super femenine but in a very modern way, not a "boring" floral.
But now I'm all "pro natural" perfumes, my fav is Jo Woods Usiku, woody and spicy, love it.
But I try those you want, actualy like the NUDE and the YSL, but don't like the M Jacobs one, not my type but many bloggers love it.
Hope Santa brings you all of them and extra surprises ;)

Lola is really tempting!:)
I'm perfume-addict- I have quite lots of perfumes, but one of my favourite over the years is Gucci Envy Me. I don't use it every day, but I always have to have this in my perfume collection - I have so many positive memories with that.
Currently I use Mexx Black on daytime. I don't like Mexx's perfumes much, but Black is awesome in my opinion.:)
