NOTD - OPI Russian Navy "SUEDE"

Excited was NOT the word when I went to pick up a parcel from the post office after work today. First off, I wasn't sure what it was - I'd ordered a few bits from America via e-bay, but surely they'd be at least another week, right? Wrong!

About ten days ago, I ordered from this fab seller as recommended by Nicola who blogs and just started you tubing too.

I'd definitely recommend checking out this seller - an OPI polish costs around £5-6 including P&P - bargain! Super speedy delivery too, which I was really amazed by.

So, onto the goodies - I ordered a suede finish polish in "Russian Navy Suede", as well as a Matte shade - "Lincoln Park After Dark Matte", after hankering for trying "something different" for a while...
So, as you can see, neither look alarmingly different in the bottle, the only give-away is the little tag attached to the bottle. The tag on both states that neither finish is as long lasting as other OPI formulations - good honesty there OPI! They also advise against using hand creams/nail oils etc whilst donning a suede or matte finish...

So having excitedly ripped the envelope open in the car, and doing a little swatchy, I decided that I had to use the Russian Navy Suede polish first (just because the Lincoln Park Matte shade was so much more "winter" to me... if you know what I mean?)

Anyway, as you can see, in the bottle, the polish looks like it's going to be very shimmery and glittery...However, all those shimmer particles (which are really finely milled, by the way...), are suspended in a matte liquid, so when it dries (which it does extremely FAST, like, less than 2 minutes fast, this suede look manicure is the result...

(Excuse the poor polishing skills by the way, I think the excitement made me think I had also recieved rapid painting skills...)

Here is a close up;
I am well aware that not everyone is a fan of these different nail varnish finishes, but personally, I am loving this polish... I'm def going to see what other shades I can get my mits on.

What do you think?

I looove the colours. I have Lincoln Park it's so gorgeous and vampy.
I'm unsure about the mattes though. I think it might be that it gives a feeling like scratching blackboards lol. You have lovely shaped nails by the way. x

You're one step ahead of me!

I have been battling the pull of the OPI Suedes for a while but I had to choose between them and Illamasqua Dystopia and the latter won.

It looks gorgeous.... need, need, need!

@Sofee - I love it - I don't even care if it chips fast lol x

@BBB - I'm glad you approve lol - I had a feeling you might like it!

@SweetJoJo - make sure you order the suede effect one - there is a matte and normal type too!

@Helen - I can appreciate the dilemma - I merely ate beans for a week and bought both lol...

@Superficial girl - its my first navy, although I have always loved blue polishes!

i didn't know there was such thing as a suede finish! exciting stuff! How exactly is suede different to a matte finish? xx

Aren't these suede's and matte finishes lovely??I have a question for you irrelevant to your post!
Is there a possibility of Illamasqua coming to Greece???

Gorgeous colour!! Might take a quick look at these! let us know how long they wear for! Im constantly typing and nail varnish never stays where its supposed to on my thumbs! Stupid space bar... :p

@Hele - Neither did I til I stumbled across it online lol - from what I can tell, it's a matte base, filled with lots of shimmer. The two effects combine to give a matte-shimmery suede like effect. The matte is just the matte base with no shimmer... Both are a nice change, but some find the matte look a little strange.

@Katie - I'm not really sure, but I'm pretty sure you can order online? I'll try to find out for you though x

@Nikki - well, TBH, I'm expecting it to wear a LOT faster than normal finishes, as you cant apply a top coat over the top (which would make it look shiny, so negating the matte look), but to my mind, these are pretty enough to bear that!
