NOTD - OPI, My Private Jet

Whenever I get to go to Londonceistershire (my lil nickname for London), I like to take advantage of the shopping opportunities which are available there and get a few bits I can't get near me. One of my firm faves is the OPI counter at Selfridges in the vast mecca known as the beauty hall...

While I was milling about having a wonder and avoiding sales pitches from over enthusiastic counter staff (an exhausting job in itself...) I bumped into the lovely sirvinya (real name Becky!) and Oxford Jasmine (real name erm... Jasmine lol), who were also headed that way...

Becky got very excited when she saw this polish, and so did I when I took a closer look... Initially you see, this polish doesn't look like much in the bottle, a plummy brown colour with a bit of sparkle... except when you look closer the glitter is minute, and there is like billions of bits of it in the bottle...

This gives the polish an amazing holographic effect, which my camera fails completely to capture...

Here is a further attempt to capture the colour in an "extreme close up" (Anyone remember Bill and Ted - those were the days when Keanu Reeves accepted himself for what he was, and didn't try to do "proper acting...)

Once again, Total FAIL at capturing the prettiness...

This nail varnish is dark and vampy, it cant quite decide whether it wants to a be a brown, a plum, or a grey, so it does all three. Then we have the teeny weeny shimmery bits which reflect gold, green, pink, purple... its lovely!

If you would like to see some better pics then I highly recommend that you go and have a look at this post on the Helen and Sheenies fab blog...

I really really want to try more Holo polishes, and I need recommendations please?

PS - I met a certain BritishBeautyBlogger for lunch and showed her this one - she went and bought it straight away!

I'm so glad you liked it! I would have felt awful if you'd bought it after I got so excited and didn't like it yourself.

It's sooooo pretty :)

ooh lovely! I think I'd be nabbing it too if it were a little lighter... I do love holos, although removing all that glitter drives me mad. I still find some days later!

@Sirvinya - I love it - its strange though as I'd never have picked it out myself if you hadn't showed me it... I love it!

Oooh that looks gorgeous on you! I haven't tried any holographic polishes yet - I'm just too addicted to creme finishes - I need to be a bit more adventurous sometimes I think! :) x

Thanks for the link! Taking holos off is a breeze as they are totally smooth - no chunky glitter at all, they come off like a normal polish.

As for recommendations...well... China Glaze OMG or Kaleidoscope collections (former readily available on ebay, latter slightly harder to find), OPI Designer Series, and Nubar's Reclaim are the best out there.

I did Holo Week a while back if you want to do a search.

Oh and thankyou for all your comments - for some reason they weren't publishing automatically, but I have put that right now!

I agree with the chinaglaze recommendations...they did some amazing holographic polishes that are my faourite polishes to this day. (i rarely wear polish but when i do, its usually a china glaze holographic colour.)

I love them and i love this colour too!
