FOTD... And Newly Dyed Hair!

Another quick and easy look today... for some reason everything is rather washed out today on photo's... but hopefully, you get the idea!

I used Bourjois healthy mix foundation, Chanel Bronze Universal (or Soleil Tan De Chanel as its know nowadays... *tut*), and Inglot liquid blush in shade 87 on the face, with The Body Shop Bronzer in Warm Glow over the top of the cheeks. Highlight was MAC msf in Perfect Topping...

On the eyes the Body Shop eye colour in Jade from the "Baked To Last" collection, and a black kohl on the water line. 

On the lips, I have Estee Lauders Crystal Baby - its probably one of my top five fave lippies of the hundreds I have! A definite repurchase!

I also did a quick dye job on my hair today as well - I used a L'oreal Herbashine which I picked up in Boots recently for around a fiver. I have chucked the box away but it was a medium mahogony brown shade and had a picture of Bar Rafielli on the box (I have no idea who she is). The Herbashines are one of those new generation ten minute jobs - non permanent, so you get a shiny refreshed look without damage. Not dramatic but it looks a lot better than it did this morning!

Face of the Day

Its been a while since I've done a FOTD post, and although I have a LOT of reviews to do, I fancied doing something a bit more relaxed... 

Nothing too complicated here as you can see - oh I'm wearing the new Revlon PhotoReady foundation here (I'm shade number three, shell - amazed is not the word when I discovered I am not the palest shade in a foundation for once!). I'm liking this foundation a lot overall, and I haven't taken on the appearance of Edward Cullen, which is nice.

I fancied a play with my green Inglot palette, so I dug that out too;

I'm really impressed with these shadows actually - they are well pigmented, and go on smoothly. They also blend well, and stay put well without a base... and they are very well priced too - these five shadow palettes cost about £15 if my memory serves me right...
I wish Inglot would hurry the heck up and get more shops in the UK! Also, I wish you could buy the pans on their own too... but thats by the by...

I also used this cheap and cheerful mascara from C2000 called Big Fake - I'm only allowed to buy very cheap things until we move and I have paid for my makeup course. I expected NOTHING from this mascara to be completely honest, as it only cost about £4. Also, when I saw the size of the brush I expected to just get this mascara all over myself...

 Seriously, this brush can be seen from space - its HUGE. But you'll also notice a distinct lack of clumps here - this mascara is actually not bad - it doesn't, in my opinion give massive false lashes, but for £4 it does a really decent job.

As you can see in the pic, the mascara gives decent definition with no clumping, rather than big false looking lashes. I'd repurchase this for an everyday mascara, rather than a night time dramatic one. Its easily removed with an oily eye makeup remover or facial oil too. Oh , I have Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Lucky on the waterline too.


On the cheecks I used my Illamasqua bronzing duo for contouring and blush, and on the lips Crystal Baby from Estee Lauder, which I love... Eyebrows are all my own (although they have asked me to apologise for their ungroomed state).

FOTD... Featuring YSL, RMK, Rouge Bunny Rouge and Illamasqua...

I finally decided it was time to have a play with the YSL palette I recently hauled - which you can see in my vid here - Here is the look I came up with...

Ok, so products used;

Face;
RMK Creamy foundation, applied and blended with Illamasqua foundation brush.
Illamasqua loose powder LP115, applied with Illamasqua powder brush
Illamasqua Bronzing duo applied with MAC109 brush
Illamasqua powder blush in Lover, applied with MAC109 brush.

I adore the RMK foundation - I find the whole concept of holy grail products debatable, as there are always new things to try etc, but its safe to say, this is a staple for me.
I'm also definitely finding that Illamasaqua's powder blush in Lover is definitely getting more than its fair share of use - so versatile. It can be dusted on lightly as done here for a natural look, or built up for drama, and it seems to go well with a lot of different looks too.


Eyes;
MAC paintpot in painterly applied with ring fingers as base.
YSL 5 Colour harmony eye palette number 7 applied with various brushes...
NARS Himalayas single shadow as highlighter.
Clarins brow palette for brows
The Body Shop metallic eye definer pencil in Bronze applied to waterline.
Urban decay 24/7 eye definer in black to tightline.
L'Oreal Telescopic mascara in Carbon black

I'm pretty impressed with the palette too - the colours are well put together and the liner shadow is easy to use. They stayed the distance too, lasting through a full days shopping and coffee meet up with my darling mummy.

I broke out the L'Oreal telescopic mascara as a bit of a change from Rimmel Sexy Curves - first impressions are good - its a ery lengthening rather than volumising mascara, and very impressed with the lack of clumping.

The Body Shop eye liner is a lovely shade and definitely looks metallic - wore reasonably well, about 3-4 hours before a touch up was required.

The Clarins brow palette is very good, and I think worthy of its own review!

Lips;
Rouge Bunny Rouge sheer lipstick in Fluttering Sighs.

I LOVE this lipstick - the whole RBR range is expensive yet, but do you know what? I really think it's worth every penny. I'm really pleased that Zuneta are increasing the numbers of shades they are carrying from this range.

FOTD - Featuring RBR, Korres, Barry M... and the mysterious disappearance of the UD Brow Box ;-(

This is a look I've been wearing a lot over the last few days, so thought I'd share... I think I look so serious in the photo above, as here at Casa De Worthy, we have had a casualty of makeup proportions...

Those of you who twitter with me, will know that I had a reorganisation of my stash last night, curtesy of some flat-pack from IKEA... It is my sad duty to report that my urban decay brow box is missing... This is a definite staple product for me, and I feel like my brows don't look quite right. Oh well, time to hunt out a replacement!

Well, here is a picture of me looking a little happier;

Barry M lipgloss in "Toffee" - this smells like toffee and adds a nice sheen - probably as near to a nude lip as I'm willing to go!

FOTD - Putting Bourjois products to the test!

I was recently sent a few bits from Bourjois by Wendy at their press office to have a play with - a mascara, a lipgloss and an eye-pencil - of the three pieces, the eye pencil had instant appeal to me as it was a fab electic blue colour (the shade I recieved is No 46 - Bleu Neon), and boasts of being waterproof... Apparently the "Contour Clubbing Waterproof" liners are a fairly new product in the line - they are available for £4.20 at ASOS or in Boots and Superdrug stores nationwide...

After recieving these products it occured to me that it has been AAAAGGGGGEEES since I picked any products up from the line - I used to adore the double ended mascara when I was younger. I believe it's fairly common knowledge that Bourjois products are produced in the same factories that produce a lot of the Chanel products, so I decided to pick up a "Shimmering Shine, Liquid Eyeshadow" in shade No 33 - Beige Metallique, which looks like this -

I picked this up because I had a feeling it might make a good multipurpose product - ie a liquid eyeshadow, an eyeshadow base (in the same vein as UDPP in Sin?), and also as a liquid highlighter which could be used on the face... I still need to give this product a good test out, so will report back on this! (I also had a good look at the other liners available in the range - there were some interesting looking "duochrome" liners which I might pick up later on...)

Anyway, I used these two products to create this look - I was going to work, so this is really as loud as I can go unfortunately lol... I was advised in a recent FOTD post that I don't smile enough (I do this on purpose as I hate my teeth, and think I generally look quite strange when I smile...), but I made a special effort with the smiles today...

The Body Shop lipstain and gloss duo from "Hot Brights" collection (pink)

So how well did the Bourjois products perform?
I wore the look for a delightful NHS shift in the community for 8 hours,so altogether was wearing the makeup for 9 hrs between the pics being taken above and the pic below...

I'm actually really impressed with both the liner and the liquid eyeshadow, given the price, the liner lasted really well - it did loose some of its intensity, but it is still very much there and really quite vivid still - the metallic sheen that the liquid shadow produced lasted well, akthough dod fade slightly in terms of colour (The light at the time the second photo was taken does it no favours really...) - but not bad for drugstore!

Hopping Mad for ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE!

Since reading about this brand on BritishBeautyBlogger, and seeing LondonMakeupGirl's and CosmeticCandy's reviews of this range, I've been hankering after trying it, and I was squealing with excitement when I got the chance to try them out - I was sent five products to have a play with and review... so without further ado!

The first thing that hits you about the range is the packaging - the packaging is sooo pretty, and the good news is, that the pretty isn't just on the boxes - it's on the actual products themselves too... The bad news about the products is that they are (a lot) more expensive than a lot of high end ranges, so lets see if they are worth it!

First up, we have RBR "Seas of Illumination; Highlighting Liquid" - I recieved this in the shade "Sea of Shadows" - I can't actually find this on the Zuneta website at the moment (possibly out of stock?), so I'm unable to give you a price for this unfortunately. It comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a pump dispenser...

This is a gorgeous golden sheer liquid - a little of this goes a LONG way - I literally used a drop of the blob I pumped out and swatched it to produce the swatch above - half a pump is more than enough to do both cheekbones and browbones. I dread to think how much this cost, but it's one of the best illuminators I have ever used - It also lasts well - I've worn this for a shopping trip and various other daily activities today, and it's still going strong. This would also work well if a drop was added to foundation to give a lovely subtle glow to the whole face...

Next up we have "Devotion Ink Quartz Eyeliner" in the shade "Tiger Eye Essence". This is a true brown liquid liner with a coppery gold shimmer... It costs an eye watering £27!

Having tried and failed in many attempts with liquid liners in the past (applicator too hard/soft/ thick/thin... consistency of liner too thin/thick/dry/wet etc), I found this really easy to use - you have to shake the bottle to mix the product, and you get a great intense colour, which dries not too quick and not too slow. Once dry it stays put, and manages not to crack and deposit shimmer all down the face. The applicator is great too - the end of the tip is very fine and also flexible, making it easy to get precise wings etc. The lustre paricle come from ground artificial quartz apparently... Available in three shades.

I also recieved a "When Birds are Singing" eye shadow mono in the shade Unforgettable Oriole (they are all named after birds!) - they are again beautifully packaged and the lids contain a good mirror - this is a very pretty metallic white gold shade, again these are pricy at £22.00 for 2.4g of shadow. Can be applied dry, wet or over primer.


The shadow is beautifully pigmented, and it lasted a full day on me without any sign of a crease - no fall out either I'm pleased to report - its available in 13 shades - I'm particularly lusting after Myserious Tinamou and Mountain Bluebird... the shadow I tried was a lovely texture, not so soft it crumbled, but not too hard to get any product on the brush, and its shimmery without being glittery, lovely!

A multi-purpose product now - again this is not currently on zuneta.com, so I am unable to give a price - perhaps it hasn't been launched yet/is sold out? This is a "Joys and Desires - Deacadent Duo" in the shade Samba - Enredo. It contains a lipgloss at one end and a blush creme-liquid at the other...


In the picture above, the gloss is swatched at the top and the blush is the bottom swatch. The lip gloss was a pretty shade, which lasted well and was just the right level of sticky. The blush was a lovely pink rosey shade, and was incredibly easy to blend out with fingers to give a lovely natural
flush of colour...

Finally, a "Forever Yours, Long-Last Lipliner" in the shade "Esteban", a beautiful nude bronzed pink shade - these are £20 each and available in 6 shades...

This is a lovely nude shade, which I think would work as a great "all purpose" liner with lots of different shades - lasted reasonably well on too, and would also work as a stand alone colour with a clear gloss over it

So, how do the products look on? Here is a little FOTD for you...

My thoughts on the range? Yep, this is one pricey range of objects of lust, and for that reason I didn't want to like the range, but sadly, I have to say, I LOVE them - they are not something I could afford everyday, but I'll definitely be treating myself to more from the range (after some overtime). My favourite products are the illuminator (Which will last me ages), the quartz eyeliner (I want more of these!), and the eye shadows - I will eventually get the shades I mentioned above, one way or another... birthday and chrismas lists spring to mind!

The Verdict - Not the most credit crunch friendly range, but worth the overtime!

FOTD - Featuring Clarins and Illamasqua...

As you know after the recent Clarins event I recieved a huge amount of products, and today I finally got to put some of them to the test - The pieces we recieved were from a the "Nude Inspirations" collection, and I was a little unsure how to make these work for me - regular followeres will be aware of my love of colour, but the great thing about nudes is that they obviously allow you to play up other areas of the face - here I clearly went for it on the lips front!

I used the nudes quad palette from the collection to create the neutral style smoky eye here, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the shadows are to use - the quad is beatifully packaged (the only thing I didn't like was the inclusion of one of those sponge applicators... but I guess it mught be useful for touch ups?), and the lid has a decent mirror which is great.

I used MAC painterly paint pot as a base, blended the matte nude shade (3rd from the left) across the lid and up towards the brow bone, added the shimmery gold shade (far left) across the centre of the lid, blended the pale brown (second from the left) into the inner corner and below the inner part of the lower lid, and then used the darker brown shade (far right) to define the crease and smoke out the eye - I also used this shade below the eye on the outer corners. I also used the new wonder perfect mascara from the range in the shade 01 wonder black on the lashes (I was really impressed with this actually - gives great length and volume without clumps - very good mascara!)

I also recieved a parcel from Illamasqua today which I've been stalking the postie for - I ordered a few bits, and my little haul included the lipstick in the shade "Resist" from the sirens collection, which I basically could not wait to use, and I thought you might like to see...

Sleek MakeUP Safari Palette - FOTD/Review.

I was very kindly sent this palette to try out - I have blogged before about how I like most of these palettes (the real exception being one that was out about a year ago, which was all matte shadows - the colours had very poor payoff, I actually threw it away!). I am still actually looking for the last LE palette, the Neon palette as it just keeps selling out of every Superdrug I go to!

Sleek MakeUP is a range that covers a wide range of skin tones; they are well know among the blogging/you tube community for their palettes, but they also have other great products - I love highlighters, and their liquid illuminator is a drugstore fave of mine...

The Sleek palettes are available in Superdrug stores, and this particular one was released on the 8th July 2009, and as usual its a steal at £4.88, for 12 mineral based shadows...

As you can see, you get a good mix of colours, and it makes putting looks together fairly foolproof... There are a mixture of matte (matte black, yellow, nude brown and green) and shimmer/satin type textures in the palette.

The shadows are all well pigmented considering the price, and they have soft smooth texture - some might find this slightly too soft - the shadows can be damaged easily (the black in my palette was actually partially damaged in the post to me), but this is a minor problem considering the price!

As I was off to Chester Zoo for the day with my other half on a very rare Weekend off, what better opportunity to have a play? Safari... Zoo... Geddit!? This is look I came up with this morning... Obviously I like to play with colours etc, but I think the palette is diverse enough to create a range of looks from subtle to smoky to more dramatic...

Face - Illamasqua Matte Primer; RMK Creamy Foundation, Illamasqua loose powder in shade LP005 (the pink one!)

I am also pleased to report that the look lasted the day, despite heyfever induced episodes of watery-eyes! A great value palette that offers good colour payoff...

I was also sent a couple of their new long lasting lipglosses - Wonderlasts - these are still undergoing rigorous MizzWorthy tests, so stay tuned for a review of those soon!

FOTD - Featuring Illamasqua powdered metals review and swatches!

A few days ago, I told you all I'd been sent some samples of the new Powdered Metals from Illamasqua, and I thought you might like to see some more pics of the different colours and some swatches... I have also done a face of the day using the products.

Don't forget, the winner of the Myths and Legends Contest wins one of these baby's along with the other prizes, so if you have done an entry, then get thinking about which colour you might like!Each powdered metal is packaged in 15g Net weight jars, you get 0.5 oz of product in each one, which is a decent amount. The jars come with a powder puff and have a black lid. Three colours are available;

Erzule – Named after the Voodoo Goddess of beauty – Golden bronze with a brown under-tone [made for Olive and black skin tones]

Thalia – Named after the Greek Goddess of poetry – Warm bronze with a gold under-tone [recommended for medium skin tones]

Bebhionn – Named after the Irish Goddess of pleasure – Light bronze with a pink under-tone [recommended for use on pale skin]

I have swatched the three colours below - unfortunately, the dry swatches came out a little bit dark...

I also swatched the powders foiled (ie with a wet brush), to intensify the colours and give a truer picture of how they look... The top swatch is Bebhionn, bottom left is Erzule, and bottom right is Thalia. As you can see, all three powders have a great amount of pigmentation and are really really pretty - I think Bebhionn and Erzule in particular are really unique colours too.

To show a little bit of how the powders might be used I did a FOTD using the powders;

This is a fairly easy to wear, everyday suitable look (I wore this for work...).

The photo above doesn't really show the true effect of the powders, so I've added a couple of close ups...

Products Used;

Face - Illamsqua Satin Primer, Illamasqua light liquid foundation in shade 125. Loose powder in shade 115 to set foundation

Eyes - Illamasqua powdered metal in shade Erzule applied with a damp brush over lid. Loose powdered metal in Thalia buffed into inner corner, Loose powdered metal in Erzule used to blend out the crease. Illamasqua powder blush in Possess (the yellow blusher!) used to highlight and blend out the powded metal into a winged shape.

Cheeks - Illamasqua powdered metal in Bebhionn buffed into cheek-bones and blended towards hairline/temples. Possess powder blusher used to soften any edges...

Lips - Illamasqua Sirens Lipgloss in Soul.

I can testify too that the products lasted really well - as I mentioned I wore the look to work today, and had a delightfully hectic and busy shift curtesy of the NHS and everything was still intact when I got home - success!
