Eco Tools Brushes

If you are looking for a nice set of cruelty free brushes, you could do a lot worse that checking out the EcoTools range...

I first got to try these on the makeup course I attended in summer with Pixiwoo, and I was surprised by how good they are for the price - For £14.99 in Boots or Superdrug, you can get a roll containing five tools/brushes from the range...

As the name suggests, these have great eco credentials - the handles are made from sustainable bamboo, and the ferules are made from recycled aluminium. They are also of course synthetic, but very very soft and lovely to use on the skin.

This kit comes in a cream roll - its nice but will inevitably get grubby fairly fast!

In the roll, you get a brow and lash brush/comb tool, which is always uesful to have.
I actually always forget how useful these are - its only when I was testing this kit I was reminded how much brows can benefit from a quick brush, and mascara clumps can be quickly eradicated...

You also get two small brushes, and eye shading brush, and a concealer brush;
I actually use both of these brushes for the eyes - The shader brush is always a godd staple to have lots of spares of, and this one is as good as any I've tried - It packs on colour well, and is a decent size, so its good for most eye shapes...

The concealer brush (the paler haired of the duo) is a great brush for applying and blending cream products onto the eyes - great for bases, paint pots, cream shadows, very soft and a dream to use. I love it.

You also get a slanted brush, which is described as an eyeliner brush;
I personally love this for brows - I'm not so sure it works as well as a liner brush, unless with powders, as its's not the most precise brush I've ever used, however a total dream applying brow powder or blending out pencil.

Finally in the kit you also recieve a blush brush;
This along with the concealer brush are my favourites from the kit - Its a fabulous multi-purpose brush in my opinion - big enough for powder, slightly tapered so can be used with a light hand for contouring and also a good size for blusher.

I'd say this kit is a great Christmas gift for any makeup lover - yourself included! All the brushes in the kit are available as individual brushes too.

And there are a couple more available in the range too!

The foundation brush is a standard flat brush;

This is a very soft, not too firm foundation brush so works well with very liquid foundations - It probably wouldn't work so well with more solid creme formula's (I suspect the soft texture would produce a few streaks), but its a decent brush, especially given the £6.99 price tag.

There's also a great retractable Kabuki - the most expensive item in the range, but still well priced at £12.99)
This is a great brush to keep in your bag for powder top ups - the fact that it's retractable means it stays cleaner, and the bristles don't get all misshapen from being chucked about everywhere in my pigsty of a well organised handbag. Its a pretty dense and well packed brush, but still soft. Another winner. I like the fact that this doesn't look like a cheapo brush either!

I found all the brushes washed well, with no major shedding or loss of colour.

Have you tried any of this range? How did you get on with it?

Disclaimer - products sent by PR for review purposes. All reviews are honest. I was not threatened with merciless tickling with makeup brushes to say nice things. I said them because I genuinely like the brushes...

I assume the roll is unbleached, in keeping with the whole Eco theme. Nice brushes. I bought a couple the other day:) xx

I have the foundation brush (in fact, it's the brush I used to do my wedding makeup) and find it ok but it does have a tendency to streak (I always needs to give my foundation a smooth over my my fingers after using it). Saying that, I rarely get on with this style of foundation brush so it might just be me!

I checked the Superdrug website and couldn't find them, so i'm not sure if they're sold in there.
But anyway, i've been interested in these brushes for a while so I think I may have to treat myself :-)

I first bought this set about 2 years ago, but at the time I wasn't very impressed with it... because I largely did not know what I was doing lol.

Now I LOVE it! My favorite one is the powder brush, I use it all the time :) Now that I know how to use makeup better, I can tell that these brushes are a very good quality for the price, and I will definitely getting more :)

Looks like blogger ate the comment I had made this morning, grrrr!
What I said, basically, is that I love ecotools as they're super soft and never shed, for a great price. I ordered 2 more face brushes from amazon.co.uk yesterday (can't buy them in my country), the powder brush is the best I own so I had to have another one!

I have the brush set and it's amazing! They're so soft and I use the angled brush for my brows instead of eyeliner too :)

Lovely post!

Thanks for all the comments everyone!

@Nic - Great! Thanks for letting everyone know!

@Jenny9119999 - I would hope so! Glad you like yours as much as me!

@Emily - I think that flat foundation brushes like this are a bit of a marmite item really - Personally I like them, but my fave of all time is actually the Boots Number 7 one! I always buy a few when its £5 voucher time in Boots! Great for my kit, but also I use them for must foundation on myself as well. Either that or fingers! I hate stippling brushes though, unless for cream blushers!

@Nikki - It seems you can buy them instore in Superdrug, but not on the website for some reason. Also it seems that they are not available in SD in Ireland?

@Musing On Beauty - damned blogger! Fear not, I'm planning a move to WP soon so hopefully these issues will be resolved soon!

Thanks everyone else - Keep us all posted on how you get on with yours if you buy some of these brushes!
