I was in London yesterday for a bit of a meet up with a few bloggy friends, and finally got to take a look at the new makeup range from TopShop - Under the watchful guidance of a certain Vex In The City. If you follow us both on twitter, you'll know I also went arse over tit in the middle of Oxford Street too, after Vex announced it to the world on Twitter - I have to admit it was very funny though!
The makeup is of course available in TopShop, but they have a counter in Selfridges on Oxford street too at the moment, which was where we had a browse... The counter seemed popular, and the range does seem really affordable - I think the prices range from about £4-15, so I expect the range will catch on well.
I only picked up a couple of cream blushers, as there wasn't a massive amount of products in the range that really appealed to me to be honest - none of the eye shadow or lipstick colours were really unique or struck me as must have's, but there were some nice basic colours available...
They also have their seasonal collection in at the moment, which contains some nice looking baked trios, but I have similar colours already so passed on those too.
The compacts have a mirror in the lid, and I liked the range of colours available. I'll probably pick up some more in the future as I love cream blushers. I picked up the colours "Butterscotch" and "Neon Rose" yesterday, as they were the ones with immediate appeal to me.
These have a really nice texture - I've read a lot of comparisons to the MAC lillicent collection cream blushers in this respect, but I don't have any of those to compare them with. To me, these are reminiscent to NARS cream blushers in texture, and they have quite a dry cream texture - Illamasqua's blushers are very much more moist feeling than these for example.
I did notice a lot of the colours look different swatched than in the pan - this is one range I'd definitely recommend seeing in person rather than trying to order on-line.
Neon Rose is a pretty bright rose pink, as the name suggests, and the cream to powder formulation means this looks quite matte on me. Butterscotch is a pretty neutral shade with a slight peachiness to it and has a gold sheen running through it.
Here I've applied neon rose to the apples and blended back, and then butterscotch on the cheekbone to define... I just used fingers, and that worked fine. A little goes a long way, so these seem great value.
This is just the same look taken in direct sunlight, so the colours look more intense...
Will you be picking anything up from the TopShop makeup range?

awesomeness. im gonna go check em out soon....
cream blush is not my thing but i am excited to know that Topshop has makeup though i am not sure if it's going to be in all Topshop stores around the world. I like those colours especially Neon Rose.
Wow, thanks for the review. I saw them listed on topshop.com and I hesitated buying them, and fortunately I did because they look different indeed from your swatches than on their promo pictures.
Mmm, I might skip these, because when I reach for a creamy blush I want it to look dewy instead of powdery (otherwise I just use my powder blush).
Still, the butterscotch looks tempting for defining cheekbones...
