NOTD - Revlon Minted

This is one of the new polishes from the Revlon Spring/Summer 2010 Collection designed by Gucci Westman, former international artistic director for L'ancome. This is apparently her first full collection for Revlon.

I have to say I am always a little dubious about green nail polishes... my hands have a slight pink tone, which can look a little, well, vomititious with green, especially pale green. This one is not too "green tippex" however, and works better than some I have tried. I can't say I am entirely sure this looks great on me, but I still like it...

While I wouldn't say this is a formal or work friendly polish, its definitely a fun colour, and although pastel colours can at times be a little temperamental, when done well they look relaxed and laid back - prefect for a BBQ... laid back day at the beach etc... *snaps self out of idyllic dreams about the summer she should be having, and focuses on the reality that she will be spending summer carrying boxes while she moves house... amongst other things*

 

Consistancy wise, this is a thin polish, which needs two-three coats to achieve "bottle" colour. It does wear well however, and the pictures above are taken after two days of wear. I'm impressed that there is no evident tip-wear.

I am a fan of the Revlon polishes and think that for the price (£6.29) they usually have trend concious shades which are slightly more sophisticated than many other ranges on the market.

Sirens Haul #2 and Quick Looks! (A Bit Picture Heavy!)

I posted this haul yesterday on youtube, however I was asked by Kelly (Happy1234) to post some pics on here too due to her having problems with the sound on her computer...

I visited my Illamasqua counter on Friday and picked up another haul from the "Sirens" collection...

I picked up a set (exclusive to Selfridges) containing false lashes, two nail varnishes, lip gloss and "Solstice" liquid metal.

"Solstice" is an amazing product, which can be used on eyes/lips/face to add a beautiful golden glaze, and can be made as sheer or strong as you want... The lipgloss is a beautiful shade, a pale cool peachy pink shade shot throught with a subtle gold sheen.

The Illamasqua nail varnishes are really well pigmented and you get "bottle colour" in one coat with most shades. They seem to last well under everyday wear as well!

I also picked up shimmer creme and two "fat pencils" which are metallic soft blendable pencils which can be used anywhere on the face or body... Here they are with swatches.

Next on the hitlist was a bronzong duo which I bought in the lighter shades ("Glint" - the lighter of the two, and "Writhe" the darker shade.) Both sides have a very subtle shimmer to them, which seems to add a lovely sheen to the face. I am SOOOO pleased I bought this!

Finally, I picked up a powder shadow in the shade "Intense", a beautiful deep teal blue/green shade, which I think will add a perfect twist to a smoky eye...

I had a little play with my collection this afternnon and came up with a couple of quick looks (Please note - I am not wearing any foundation in the pics so forgive the skin... I'm having a slight breakout issue at the moment!)

Firstly I did a daytime look -

This was really easily achieved using the bronzing duo to sculp and highlight the face a little. I added a little shimmer creme over the brow and cheekbone, a slick of the lipgloss and used the fat pencil in "perverse" to make my eyes a little shimmery.

I then had a play with the other products to make the look slightly more night-time -

Here I smoked up my eyes a little using bronze and teal shades from my large SirensPalette (http://mizzworthy.blogspot.com/2009/04/illamasqua-haul-sirens-collection.html), and added the light gold shade as a brow highlighter. I then very lightly used solstice gold liquid metal on the cheekbone, added a little of the peach blush and a pop of solstice to the inner corner or the eyes. On the lips I used my fat pencil in Wilful (Copper) and topped this off with copper liquid metal ("enrapture"), dabbed a little of the gold shade in the middle of the lips and blotted...

Unfortunately the light was rather rubbish by he time I took these and hence the pictures look a little less bright than they did in real life... but hopefully you get the idea!

Nail Varnish Swatches...

Hi everyone,

Just a quick pic to show some of the recent nail polishes I've bought...

So, on my ring finger is 'Lubu Heels' by China Glaze;

'Ruby Pumps' by China Glaze on my middle finger;

'Poetic' from the romantica collection by China Glaze

'Rio' by MeMeMe...

These pics don't really show the china glaze polishes off very well; 'Lubu Heels' is black with red reflects, 'Ruby Pumps' is red with red reflects, 'Poetic' is a metallic pink...

EBay Haul - China Glaze

So I finally caved in and ordered some China Glaze off EBay. I know a lot of you probably have them, but they are too nice to pass up! I bought the Lubu manicure kit. This has two nail varnishes - 'Ruby Pumps', which is a lovely bright red with red sparkly/shimmery bits, and 'Lubu Heels', which is a black shade with red sparkles... They are both gorgeous and the bottles seem really big - 15ml each. They are meant to not dry out either due to the ingredients. They look lovely on, especially in the winter. As soon as I prised them out of the packaging I had two coats of 'Ruby Pumps' on my toe nails lol... I always have varnish on my toes as they are totally gross looking without it.

The kit recommends that you do the following with long nails - Paint the underside of your nail with the 'Ruby Pumps' shade, and then paint the top of the nail with 'Lubu Heels'. At the moment I have short nails which keep breaking, but I've invested in some OPI Nail Envy for brittle flaky nails and I'm hoping they start to look better. I am harbouring a secret ambition to try the look the pack recommends!

So does anyone else have any shade recommendations for me? Also any seller recommendations? The seller I used (allpolishedup) was really good but I'd still like to find a cheaper (but genuine) seller if possible...
