Recently I have started wearing nail polish a lot, and so I thought I should really buy something decent to protect my nails...
My weapon of choice was the Nails Inc base coat ("Chelsea Bridge").
At first, I was impressed... it really seemed to boost the staying power of my nail varnishes, and prevented staining when I wore dark colours...
However over the last couple of weeks, I've been disturbed to see that my nails have started to peel and flake - this is something that has never happened to me before!
Could the base coat be to blame? Anyone have any ideas? Also I was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent alternative?
Thanks in advance! MizzWorthy xxx

My nails have been doing that recently too and I have put it down to the fact that I have been shaping them more square than I normally do. I'm just hoping it's not lack of calcium in my body as I don't want osteoporosis lol!! I have started taking calcium supplements so I'll see if that helps.
Try taking calcium...it might help. But yes this has happened to me before. Maybe it is the product you are using...
IT always happens when you start wearing nail polish more often. Although I love polish and wear it all the time it does dry nails. I take breaks from wearing polish and heavily moisture my nails for a few days every couple of weeks to try and combat it. Using a moisturizer for the nail...even olive oil around the cuticle and under the nail will help partially, but polishes and removers are very hard on natural nails!!
Hey hun :)))
Try the Chanel base coat and top coat, love them.
Also love La Roche Posay nail products, don't know where you can buy it :((( try to find them great quality price.
Thanks for all the comments - Maybe I should try the calcium supplements, also, sounds like wearing polish constantly is the problem and maybe not the base coat? Thanks for all the tips everyone! xxx
My nails have been doing exactly the same lately!! I hvae never had bad nails and all they are doing is peeling!! its driving me mad!! I dont usually use a base coat but have been using Nails Inc top coat which really makes them glossy!!
I tagged u on my blog hun x
i usr nail envy from OPI, it's brilliant stuff xxx
Chelsea Bridge is actually a top coat used to prevent UV staning on gels or french manicures using it as a base coat will dry out your nails making them flake.
Brixton would be a better choice as it's for peeling nails but I would give it at least 3 weeks for it to take effect.
Let us all know how you get on.
