Eyeko "Saucy" Nail Polish

This polish from Eyeko has been available for some time, but it's one of my fave's from the range, and definitely worth a look.

Saucy is a lovely hot orange based red - it almost but not quite verges on the coral side. Obviously the formula's of the eyeko polishes can vary - some can drag a little and need more coats. This one is one of my favourites in terms of formula and application - It's not too thick so doesn't drag, and applies smoothly. If you have Eyeko's Coral polish, this remindedme alot of it in terms of formula and application... I personally apply two coats of this, mostly from habit, but this is the sort of polish you could apply in one coat if you have less time.

I have also found that this polish wears well - I never expect high street/drugstore polishes to last longer than 2-3 days, but I applied this on my toes once and it wore extremely well. This is available both in sets an invidually on the Eyeko website.

Eyeko "Rain" Nail Polish

I've seen this on a few blogs recently and loved it from afar, so I was really pleased to be sent it unexpectedly for review purposes.

Rain is a lovely pale grey-blue shade, and looks a lot more expensive to me than its price tag sugests... It's currently availabl in a set of three blue shades on the EYEKO website for £8.50. I hope this becomes available on its own too - as I say it's a pretty shade, and to me, this is a little bit different.

Application wise, I found this definitely needed two coats - the first coat applied quite patchily, and there was some definite dragging, however applying a second (thicker) coat, solved this. This to me is a wearable colour, but still a little bit different. It's the sort of shade that doesn't look out of place at work, but is interesting enough that people will ask what shade you are wearing. This pleases me!

Now I just need to learn to apply nail varnish in that lovely neat way some beauty bloggers seem able to do...

Eyeko "Extra Glow" 3 in1 Cream.

This is the newest LE version of Eyeko's Glow Creams - they are already available in a regular glow and a tinted glow version.

This product is available now on the Eyeko and ASOS websites, and retails for £8.00.

I sometimes feel like a bit of a fraud buying Eyeko... The range is obviously aimed at a younger market than me, an this is often reflected in the packaging, but the packaging of this I find quite attractive!

The cream itself is housed in a simple pink pot, which is fine - If I was being picky I'd prefer a tube for hygiene reasons, but thats a personal preference.

Having never tried either of the other two versions of this cream, I had to look at lots of online pics to see what made this one different - Obviously the tinted cream is a bronzier version of the cream, and the other glow cream seems to contain more of a golden shimmer, whereas this contains more of a silvery shimmer, and has a pinkier base. It looks very pretty in the pot...

This cream is described as a 3-in-1 product, which can act as a highlighter, moisturiser and an eye-cream. Personally I'd only recommend this as a moisturiser for more dull looking skin, as I feel it might make skin look a little shiny. I'd also hesitate to use this as an eye cream, as I personally have  few fine lines in that area, and anything too highlighting seems to do just that, and highlight the lines even more. However if you are a beautiful young, fresh faced beauty, then this might work well for you.

As a highlighter though, particularly for the cheekbones, this is a lovely product - it adds a lovely sheen without looking glittery...

A little of this product goes a long way, but the effect is very pretty - Obviously I have pale skin so I can't comment on how well this would work for darker skin types. Also bear your skin type in mind - due to this being a cream product, it may not work for oilier skin types. I have normal to combination skin, and this blends easily, and stays put well once applied and set. It does set pretty quickly, so it needs to be worked into the skin speedily. It can be applied with fingers (easiest!) or even a brush (more hygienic and/or professional if using it on others!)

Is That Particuliere You're Wearing?

... is the question the Chanel MUA artist asked me today. 

I was slightly smug to be able to tell him, that it wasn't. It was in fact Eyeko's new "Posh Polish" from the soon-to-be-launched SS10 polish collection.

I didn't ever manage to snag a bottle of the famous Particuliere shade, which started selling for silly prices on ebay after selling out fast... but the fact that this was mistaken for it by Chanel counter staff means they must be pretty similar.

My Eyeko parcel was a lovely surprise I recieved the other day, containing five new shades, which I'll show individually over the next few days...

Application wise Posh Polish has a fairly thick consistency, but applies well and gives reasonable coverage in one coat for those in a rush - two coats does ensure complete opaque coverage though, as shown above. Excuse the ding in the ring fingernail too - I was too impatient to remove from one nail and re-apply...

Eyeko Line & Shine Pencils and Graffiti Liners

These products were sent to me for review purposes - I am neither affiliated with Eyeko, nor paid for these reviews. My reviews are always honest and based on my own experiences and skintype etc - I would always recommend that you read as many reviews as possible on a product prior to making a purchase.

As always with Eyeko, these products are very reasonably priced - the double ended line and shine pencils are £4 each from ASOS, while the Graffiti liners are £5 on the Eyeko site.
The Line & Shine pencils are available in three shades - Rockstar eyes (Black and silver); Popstar eyes - blue and turquise, and Superstar eyes (Plum and purple). The three pencils are double ended and chunky. One end is matte, while one is more shimmery.

I recieved two of the pencils - popstar and superstar;

 

 

As you can see, both are reasonably well pigmented for the £4 price tag...


The graffiti pen is a "felt tip" style liner, available in black, and is very well pigmented;

 

After swatching, I tested the "waterproof" properties of the liner, and it does really well - so well in fact it needs an oily remover to get it off... I used this on the waterline and it lasted really well.

I used the Superstar Line&Shine, and the graffiti liner (with a little help from a Sleek palette highlighter shade) to create a quick defined purple look;

To create this look I applied UDPP to both lids, then layered the matte plum shade over the lid, and blended out with a fluffy brush. I then added definition to the eye with the "shine" end of the pencil, and used the Graffiti liner to the waterline and upper lashline. 

The look lasted reasonably well to - I think possibly due to the UDPP, I noticed some creasing occured about three hours after application, but this was easily fixed by a little finger patting/blending. The definition around the eyes lasted very well. The pencils are also pretty creamy in texture, but not as soft as say the Prestige total intensity liners. The graffiti liner stayed very well on the waterline.

Verdict - well pigmented, double ended pencils with reasonable staying power for the price, great if you are a fan of bright colous of just looking for a change from black. The graffiti liner is great for the waterline, and has good waterproof and stay put properties. More "experienced liners"might prefer a more flexible tip, as this is a pretty rigid nib. 

Eyeko Magic Mascara...

I was sent this for review purposes by Eyeko - I have to say, it hands down gets thumbs up for the pretty packaging - it comes in a long, sleek metallic purple tube with a silver floral design, accented by little crystals - lovely!

The mascara is apparenly a limited edition product from the Eyeko Couture range - I'm not sure how long it will be available, as the website doesn't give any details. It's available on their website here for £9, or the ASOS website for £8.

The brush is one of those very big ones - akin to benefit bad gal but not as massive (I don't own that one, but the brush looks similar from what I've seen...). The fact that the brush is so big and the opening of the tube is so small, means that any excess product is removed from the wand, which minimises clumping and "goop buildup" on the brush. This worked well - I haven't had a single clump since I started testing it...

Eyeko describe this as a "3 in 1 Mascara" - ie lengthening, volumising and curling. I've been test driving this for a couple of weeks now.... Here is a pic of my naked lashes;

I'd definitely agree that this is a very lengthening mascara, and I experienced zero clumps at all while I've been using it. I didn't find it particularly curling when used alone, but when applied to curled lashes it held the curl well. I didn't find it massively volumising either - the formula is a little thin to be volumising.

Verdict - worth trying if you want a lenghtening mascara which doesn't clump, but if you are after volume, this may not work for you.

Here Eyeko Again with Another Review!

Eyeko is a brand I've seen a lot about on you tube and blogger, so when I was asked to try and review some of the products from the range, I was interested in the products to see if the range could live up to all the attention it gets... I was sent three fat balms, a mascara, a highlighter wand and the intruigingly titled Magic Liquid Eyeliner;

I've had the products for a few weeks now and been trying them out on a regular basis, and there are a couple of really great products in the range. All products are available at eyeko.com and asos.com

First of all - the packaging - this range is clearly (in my opinion) packaged for the teen and early twenties market, cheerful and cutesy and ever so slightly cartoony. Nice enough, and also seems to be functional too...

Eyeko Fat Balms - These come in three "flavours" - Strawberry Raspberry and Minty. They cost £5 each - you get 8g of product. It comes in a twist up tube like a normal chapstick, only (as the name suggests) chubbier. The product has a diameter similar to a £1 coin, and is approx 1cm tall when twisted up fully. I'm not sure whether the packaging is a little deceptive here - the tube is a lot bigger than the amount of product, however you do still get a fairly decent amount...

I wasn't really too excited when I saw these - I was expecting slightly tinted lip balms really, but these have a lot of colour in them... here are some swatches to demonstrate...

L - Raspberry; M- Minty; R - Strawberry

The raspberry fat balm has a very feint smell of raspberries, however I also detected a hint of crayola colouring crayons too? This one is the darkest of the three and is the least shimmery of the three. Strawberry has a strawberry scent and is slightly shimmery, while Minty is a very pale shimmery pink shade. I was really surprised that the Minty version was my fave of the three. I simply found the Raspberry and Strawberry versions too dark for me, and the fat applicator made neat application to the lips a difficult task, so I ended up looking like a kid who'd been at the jam...

The minty balm is really lovely - it leaves a barely there pink shimmer on the lips (Not glittery, just shimmery...), which I have attempted to capture below...

They feel very moisturising on the lips and don't highlight any lines on the surface of the lips liks some shimmery products can. The raspberry and strawberry versions would also work as blushers, especially on darker skintones.

I also really liked the "Magic Liquid Eyeliner", which looks like a colourless liquid liner. It is actually an alcohol solution (similar to those used in pressing eyeshadows). You rub the tip of the liner across an eyeshadow of your choice, and hey presto, it turns it into a "smudge proof, water resistant" eye liner - you clean off the pigment using good old soap and water so it can be used to create a lot of different coloured liners... It doesn't leave any lasting damage on your eyeshadow either, I hasten to add - I tested it on the edge of my MAC Contrast shadow, and once dry the shadow worked fine, no nasty hard bits or anything. The tip of the applicator it thin and flexible too, so you can create decent lines with it...

Once dry the liner is pretty secure too - smudgeproof and you need a decent cleanser to remove - this again costs £5

Another product I was really surprised by was the mascara. The packaging is unusual, as it comes in a squeezy "mini toothpaste tube" style container... I also felt slightly underwhelmed when I saw the brush, which have attempted and failed to capture on my craptacular camera (Dear father Christmas, I would like a new one!)...

So, as you can (just about) see, the wand is very thin and the bristles are arranged in a spiral formation... I looked at this and expected this mascara to clump like crazy, but I'm very happy to say I was wrong. The mascara gives a natural lenghtening and volumising effect when applied (I didn't even attempt to photograph this, however I would like to direct you to this fab video by GemsMaquillage who will demonstrate how the mascara looks...). Zero clumps and a nice formula too - the actual mascara is not to thick or thin, so you can build up nicely - I couldn't manage to get mine looking quite so dramatic as Gemma though! (She clearly has superior application skills!). The mascara is £6.

Finally I was also sent the "Touch Up & Glow" Highlighter. This comes in a Touche Eclat style dispenser - except with a twisty base rather than a clicky one. It looks like this when it first comes out...

Again, my camera has done an amazing job with this one - its actually quite a pink based shimmery (again no major glitter chunks) highlighter, which dries to a smudgeproof finish. I think this would work well for nights out... I'm not sure it would look great if you have a lot of open pores, but the same goes for a lot of highlighters. This is no Rouge Bunny Rouge Illuminator (AKA Candlelight in a Bottle), but its a decent product for the price. I would say this would look best on paler skins too.
